At Globetrippin, we believe there are books that are so brilliant and complex and entertaining that they transcend boundaries of individual taste to send aflutter the imagination of every reader who gives them a chance. Among them are some foreign-language books (translated, of course) that are capable of enthralling the reader into an
undiscovered, yet fascinating aspect of a foreign country or culture, sparking such a sense of adventure and wonderment that the reader develops a deeper love and understanding of that country more and more with each page.
The Bookstore at Globetrippin consists of three rustic, handcrafted bookshelves, stocked with a small collection of those books: Really good books either written by authors with a foreign heritage or are in some way about foreign countries.
Among the owner’s favorites are: The Master and Margarita by Russian author, Mikhail Bulgakov; The Picture of Dorian Grey by British author Oscar Wilde; Things Fall Apart by Nigerian author Chinua Achebe; Noli Me Tangere by Philipino author Jose Rizal; The Black Tulip by French author Alexandre Dumas (actually, everything by Alexandre Dumas); and
Camille, by Mr. Dumas’s son, Alexandre Dumas fils.
Some books at Globetrippin, like those above, are classics, while others are new translations of classics, like Victor Hugo’s “Les Miserables” newly translated by Julie Rose. Most however are new works. All are shelved according to region, so if one is interested in Russia, one would simply browse the Eastern Europe section.
Peppered amongst the books are unique collectibles that, in their own way, will transport the reader to the same places as the stories in our books. For instance, there are summer hats made in Martinique and constructed entirely from palm tree leaves.
The limited number of books make it easier to navigate titles and allow oneself to be inspired by something new. So pick up a book and take a chance. The Bookstore at Globetrippin is the perfect spot to Eat! Explore! & Enjoy!
